‘Two small works by Ann Ross, Cherry Red and Fireworks, part collage, part painting, quite outshine their company, however. They have a wistful delicacy that lifts them from very nice to really beautiful. The same is true of Susie Leiper’s lovely abstract book in muted golds and greys. Its title, The granites and schists Of my dark and stubborn country from a poem by Nan Shepherd, identifies it as a homage to the Scottish mountains.’
Very nice praise from Duncan Macmillan for my book, sold already, at the Royal Scottish Academy Open Exhibition 2016, until 30 August. Also on show is a small diptych Cairngorms – you have to hunt for this at the bottom of a mixed wall!
